A new project every month

  • Casting From Rodin's famous bronze statues to Robert Gober's wax legs, artists have used casting to make sculptures for centuries. In this Markybox, you will find everything you need to make a mold of your hand and cast it in plaster. Be sure to express yourself - there is enough for 2 casts in one box!

  • Dyeing and Weaving Turn old rags into beautiful rugs. Just a few years ago, people in museums across the US sat together and hand-crocheted an enormous rug out of discarded t-shirts, bedsheets, and fabrics. This project, called Domestic Integrities, was organized by artist Fritz Haeg. Now it's your turn to experiment and create your own domestic masterpiece!

  • Paper Marbling Paper marbling is an ancient technique of floating drops of ink on the surface of water, which can produce breathtaking patterns similar to smooth marble. These patterns are then carefully transferred to absorbent paper or fabrics and preserved. Learn this meditative, calming art form together.

  • Papier Mache Papier maché is an art of the streets. Inspired by traditions of carnivale in Latin America, this project will teach you how to use papier maché to make a traditional Brazilian instrument, the afoxe. Make some noise!

  • String Art Create incredible geometric patterns by wrapping string around a pinboard. Inspired by the Bézier curve, a mathematical pattern in which a curve is made from straight lines, artists like John Eichinger created "string mandalas." Make your own Bézier curve with colorful string and simple, powerful designs.

  • Tin Prints Create an etching on tin, also known as intaglio or engraving. Inspired by artists from Albrecht Dürer to Picasso, Rembrandt and Kathë Kollwitz, with this project you can make your own unique hand-printed cards.

What people are saying

  • "I am always looking for activities to do with my boys, that allow us to unplug and try something new. Markybox has successfully helped me do that! My boys are anxiously awaiting their next box and are so proud of what they have made so far. Art has always been a love and passion of mine, and Markybox has helped make it a family passion. Seeing everyone create together and have something they are proud of in the end is priceless."

Standing up for childhood creativity.

Creativity is such an important part of being a kid. In fact, we believe that the benefits of regular creative expression and imaginative play are fundamental to childhood development.

Unfortunately, we live in a world where arts education and creative classes are increasingly undervalued in schools. Fewer children than ever before have the opportunities they need to truly exercise and develop their creativity.

Marky sets out to deliver the imaginative learning kids are missing every month in a bright little box to be shared with the people who matter most.

By making art together, we can help inspire the next generation of brilliant minds who will create a better, brighter, and more exciting future for us all.
